Thorn Alpha 3, 150w SON, gear in shoe version. Installed new around 1977 and SON from new. These were the first high pressure sodium streetlights in Fareham. Of the around 30 original lanterns only around 10 now remain. |

Thorn Alpha 3, 150w SON, this is the only example mounted on a short bracket. Over 20 years since it was last painted, corrosion is now setting in. |
Relite Hyperion C, 135W SOX mounted on 10m Hex section Hockey Stick column. Very similar in appearance to a GEC 9554 but there are subtle differences. Canopy is different, most noticeable around spigot entry and the refractor panels extend more towards the back of the bowl on the Hyperion. The Hyperion also has a taper at the bottom of the front face of the bowl, where as the GEC has a constant slope front face. |
WRTL 2600, 70W SON on 1960's Stewarts & Lloyd column fitted with a later bracket. This lantern dates from the mid 1990s when the lighting along this footpath was improved. Of the the original 3 lanterns, this is the sole survivor. |
